The expected transition in higher education from students’ school-level assignments to university-level provides challenges and development prospects for students the academic world. Academic support programs have been introduced South African universities assist under-prepared university benefit lectures, writing centers, tutorials. However, problem of poor by persists. study aimed examine difficulties. English Second Language (ESL) experience, impact a collaborative approach between lecturer center, ESL with their writing, was explored. used Scaffolding theory as lens. mixed methods used, data collected three phases, comprising pretest, posttest, questionnaire. A sample 216 first-year Senior Phase FET were chosen. Findings revealed that experienced skills such structure, organization, coherence, table contents, paraphrasing, referencing, in-text citations. intervention center assisted progress writing. paper recommends exploring more strategies lecturers optimally students.
